(13th February) Coral Bay 1 - Quad Biking
What an experience, this was hilarious fun! Jo spent most of her time screaming as she went over the top of huge dunes and plummeted to the bottom! Mike was in his element, snaking across the tracks and going high on the banking on the corners until suddenly plumes of black smoke appeared from his engine and he came to a standstill, he'd killed the bike! We had to abandon his bike to be picked up later and Jo rode pillion for a short while as Mike drove which was great fun as we careered up and down the dunes, screaming our heads off when we flew up one dune which was easily 100ft high. We also bombed along about 10kms of the beach with the waves crashing only feet away. As part of the adventure we snorkeled at a couple of remote lagoons known to be excellent for snorkelling but unfortunately the waves were too big today and stirred up the sand too much, but on the plus side it meant more time playing on the bikes! One of the girls in our group had a panic attack and she dipped out so Jo took her bike and we headed off again. On this stretch we saw kangaroos bounding across the dunes and also an osprey. It was extremely hot, sweat pouring off us (what with the sun and the heat from an engine between your legs too) and very dusty but we loved it – very exhilarating. Oh dear Mike wants to buy one now! Dangerous!!!!
