(6th - 7th February) Coronation Beach - Windsurfing
After 3 days pumping myself full of mega pain killers, felt that my hip was better enough now to risk going out for a wave sail. Now I remember why I loved Corro so much 10 years ago! Screaming gybes on 6 - 10ft wave faces at full tilt and screaming gybes by the shore on mirror flat water, mega winds and huge spaces between the waves, minimum 3 bottom turns - Ah heaven!!! In my top 3 spots ever been to on the planet. Located 20 minutes drive from Geraldton, this is a classic reef break lying 200m from the shore, the wind in my experience is usually cross shore, port tack, wind fills in in the afternoons, quite often a 4.5 - 5m sail will do the job nicely (check out the leaning tree on the Gero 2 post if you don't believe how windy it gets here, there's loads like this!!!). The photos don't really do the sailing justice, bit arty farty really, the Neil Pryde helicopter was already booked for the day and Jo was starfished on the beach catching some rays, Dowh! no piccies again! And who is that masked space cadet??? umm? answers on a postcard?
