Round The World Trip Journal

(29th Aprl - 1st May) Nanango - Rellies in the Bush!
We had a lovely drive through the hinterland out to Nanango where Mike’s Auntie Liz and Uncle Brian live. Unfortunately because of the drought the land is really arid and dry and not as green as it usually is but in the late afternoon sunlight the rolling hills looked golden brown and there were lots of cattle about too. We spent a couple of lovely relaxing days with Liz and Brian and they certainly looked after us well. They have a beautiful one acre plot with a four bedroom bungalow on it complete with pool and hot tub and Brian’s self-made bar! We didn’t want to leave as it was such an idyllic spot with their garden overlooking nothing but bush with trees everywhere and loads of birds (that’s their garden with Mike stood with them both). Liz showed us round the area. We saw the murals in the town along with various wooden sculptures carved with a chainsaw. Out the back of the town we were lucky enough to see kangaroos as well. Mike hadn’t seen Liz for 10 years and Brian for 25 years so it was great to catch up with them and for Jo to meet them for the first time. Jo really hit it off with Liz, probably because they are kindred spirits sharing the same birthday! And Mike and Brian share the same wicked sense of humour! Thank you both so much for the welcoming hospitality and don’t forget the invitation is open for you to come and stay with us in the UK if you can ever tear yourself away from such an idyllic lifestyle.
